nc ks | I am going to mount a 600 bu gravity wagon on a semi trailer to be pulled behind my semi as a seed tender. It will have a hydraulic auger on it and a self contained hydraulic pump powered by a little gas engine. I would also like to mount a 1200 gal fertilizer tank on it over the rear wheels. I am looking for suitable trailers or trailer parts for this purpose. An old flat trailer will put the gravity box too high in the air so it needs to be a drop frame of some kind. Most drop frame trailers are pretty pricy, old double drops can be found, but the cheaper ones are dropped too low. There are the 40' container chassis that aren't stout enough but would work pretty good to cut up and drop and then reinforce and is probably what I would buy if I had to start the project tommorow, but they are $2950 around here which is more than I want to spend for a trailer I am going to have to cut up and reconfigure. I also can buy a junked out trailer running gear and 5th wheel plate for $500 and build the trailer how I want but a trailer with the webbing between the frame already intact would be a big head start. I don't know if a shorter container chassis would give me the length I need.
Have any of you built such an animal and will you share your ideas and maybe pictures of your trailers? Any ideas from anyone very welcome. All I have now is the gravity box and auger so the possibilities are wide open.
