Subject: Geothermal/Ground source heat

I am looking into using geothermal heating system as fuel oil furnace needs replaced. I am reading varying opinions on the net. Is there any experience with them here?

Will they keep the house warm when temps at 0 degrees? I am in west central Ohio. I see a several setups as far as the loops of piping in the ground too. Pump and discharge into a ditch, stream, lake etc.. or closed loop system with several hundred feet of trench dug through property.

TIA
