We installed a closed loop system 7 years ago in new 3500 ft home. Cost recovery time was 5-7 years, depends on cost of the other source of energy to heat/cool home, gas, electric, propane.

Monthly average utility cost are $140 for elec. and natural gas. I have a natural gas hot water heater. It is to big, a mistake I made. Gas is $50/month and Elec. is $90/month.

I installed natural gas at the time of building as back up source of energy for heating if needed.

Now the heat/cooling system will start paying me back. I would guess at least $100/month.

Here our water would cause problems with an open system, i.e. pumping and dumping water. Closed loop is better.

I would do it again.

SE Nebr.

Yes, our system runs 45 min of every hour in the coldest time of year. I think it is sized correctly.

Heated air coming from vents will not be as hot as with a gas system, thus runs longer to keep or raise temp.

Enjoy.
