I've got an old Super 99 GM Oliver with the 3-71. Mostly, it's an "equipment mover", used to road equipment so we don't burn the high $$$ tires off the big boys. I have actually used it on a 14' field cultivator to work in lime a time or two, and I've drilled with it a little. It just purrs like a kitten when drilling at low rpm's, but I go for the ear plugs AND muffs if I'm runnin' her wide open.

I also grew up with an old 318 (8V71) in a cabover Freightliner, but my favorite Detroit in these parts would have to be the one a logger neighbor put in a mid-70's F-250. Legend has it that he bought the pickup brand new, drove it home, pulled the 360 V-8 out and put in the 4-53. It was his main pickup until the late 80's when it was replaced with a new Ford diesel. He still gets it out once in a while in the summer. Never fails to turn heads when that thing winds up leaving the stop sign! :)
