East Central, Nebraska | so had the soil recs say a pound or two of boron wouldn't hurt. they recommended 1-1.8 pounds. on the same recs for phosphorus it says pounds of P2o5, on potassium it says pounds of K2O on boron it just says boron. so i have the coop get me bags of (dry) boron to shoot for 1 pound an acre on. mind you i am strip tilling. so the product is 15% boron from windfield united. underneath where it says 15% boron it says "This 50 pound bag of Boron 15% contains 7.5 pounds of Boron (B)". so I thought that meant that this particular bag would do 7.5 acres if i shot for 1 pound for acre, and that is how i mixed the batch, and then loaded the strip till machine. I was then second guessing myself and called the salesman who called the agronomist who said he would not put on more than 2 pounds in the strip of what is in the bag. I had the batch mixed for 4 pounds of product which would have gave me .6 pounds of actual Boron. They said that is way too much but I would probably be alright.
do i scoop the bin out or apply it? i don't want to probably be alright. i kind of need to be fine. i am likely going to take the rest in the truck and broadcast it but i want to at least try a couple rounds with what is in there to see if its the end of the world or not.
the tank is loaded for about 60 acres.
i might add, to further confuse me the bag says if requirements are high apply 2 -3 pounds respectively. what does that even mean? of actual boron 2-3# or total product? kind of seems vague to me.
any input is appreciated. thank you.
