Western Oregon | I would say 3 is large, few with 4. I thought 1 was enough as I spent most of my time alone. I was the middle of 3 boys. Wife's mother was an only child and wife had heard the stories of loneliness on the farm with no kids to play with. Wife looked up to older brother but he only tolerated her if his friends were not around, rest of time he ignored her. She wanted 2, 1 of each if possible. We had a girl, 2 miscarriages and a boy. He was born late and had used up all the fluids and has lasting health issues. Daughter never wanted children, married a man 19 years older with 4 grown kids. But, she is a preschool teacher. Son has never married, no kids. So, no grand kids. We are in mid 60's....James
