Subject: RE: Microdisectomy

Central Illinois
I had one done on L4-L5 little over 2 years ago. Mine was ruptured and pressing on the sciatic nerve pretty good. Like others mentioned, you will want to find a hard, straight back chair to sit in for awhile. It took close to a year before the sciatic nerve pain went completely away, but was much much better a few weeks after surgery. I definitely pay more attention to how I bend or pick things up now. If I remember right, 6-8 weeks after surgery of pretty much doing or lifting nothing. The best advice they gave me after surgery was get up and walk, walk, and walk some more. Really helped get the soreness/stiffness out of my back. I would 100% do it again in a heartbeat. My back feels good for the most part now. I went from wearing a brace all day everyday to not wearing one at all.
