Subject: RE: Tell me about anhydrous for wheat straw

We've done it with oats, millet, and pea straw. Worked really well. Doubled protein if not a bit more, and raised RFV and RFQ. Tarp the pile tight, and then we slide the probe in under the tarp on the ground that way we don't have to cut a hole and try to retape it. For any stack over 100 bales gas from two spots that way the whole stack gets done, not just one end. They say let it sit for 60 days but we had a tarp rip wide open at 30 days and it still worked out. Cows loved it and would lick it off the ground. We'll be phasing out silage for ammoniated straw here.
