| If you use the vehicle for any kind of business use or tell them you had a job lined up that was going to pay $X,XXX and need a similar truck to complete said job they are usually required to get you like kind/quality rental. If they don't get you a truck then they're on the hook for loss of use and loss of wages. Let them decide what they'd rather pay for. They will likely need to get some higher level approvals but they just have to submit the reasoning behind the "upgrade" from a basic vehicle.
Edit to add: if they still push back, threaten to contact your states department of insurance. You're likely to have what's called a "justified complaint". This is big black eye for company and causes issues for the insurance carrier.
