Cutting hay today along a bunch of bean fields, UGLY!!!

We got stopped for .40" rain on May 12th. Stopped again on the 18th for .20". No rain since then, this particular field was planted May 22nd. You can see 5 seeds marked with the red dots still just laying in dry dirt. Notice the poor stands in the back ground.

Corn is the bigger problem, every clay nob is the same way, seed just sitting in dry dirt. Normally moisture will wick up from below but 90 and windy for a week in May sucked it all out.

Looks like it was the year a guy should have planted beans 2.5" deep, every year I do that, a 3" goose drownder crusts it over bad.

Joys of farming junk dirt......

On edit, before Longwood flatchested Ted Lasso comments, yes I dug up the seeds. Spot on 1.5" down.
