I maybe misunderstood your post but we just use the snap in tees, put a 6” tee into main line with correct tee size for sub. Also use snap ins to put subs in but don’t like them as well. Only thing we tape is where we have to join tile when a roll runs out, we snap in coupler and tape around it so it doesn’t come apart as it goes thru the boot. ( we are fortunate to have a tile a tile mfg and supplier 4 miles from my door). We also use bags of dry cement we pour on joints where we have to make joints in old tile.
