mercer county, il | For me, especially on lighter soils, it’s not just pioneer corn that does it. 1/2 lb of solubor through the sprayer will generally fix it up. Even if you applied boron, it’s dry and can’t get into the plant. Alfalfa gets the same reddish purplish tint.
Like someone said, it’s an excess of sugar, boron’s job in a plant is sugar translocation and carbohydrate metabolism. Farming junk ground teaches you a lot. | |
