| I did this same exact scenario in 2012 with my father. We had both deals arranged before signing either deal.
He traded his 2000 F250 + cash for a 2012 F150
I traded my 1999 F150 for what used to be his 2000 F250.
Both deals were with the dealership. So I bought from the dealer (not my father), and we both paid sales tax on our individual deals. The dealer also had to physically take possession of the 2000 F250, so we had to drive down there with two vehicles. The dealer didn't do anything to the F250 when it was on their lot for how ever many hours (it was the same day if I recall correctly). | |
