chirpfarm - 6/9/2023 06:09 If you can't see that EV's are the future, for better or worse, then that's your problem not his. It's interesting to hear feedback from a farmer on real life usage of an EV, even if it is in retirement.

Except that he's not a farmer reporting on real life usage of an EV as a farmer or how a farm family would use one.

He's a retired farmer with (lots of) time on his hands (which makes the slow EV "refueling" acceptable on a long trip) to report how he uses his EV as a luxury toy.

They can work for real farms in parts running. Dealerships have gotten fewer and farther away. For us 75 miles one way in different directions for 4 dealers is easily done with an EV. Grocery runs and shopping in the neighboring cities can easily be done with an EV that is recharged at the end of the day to be ready for another day. I have yet to see these farms that run one vehicle to do everything on the farm. That includes small to large. I have ICE engines and an EV to cover the daily short runs saving up the ICE vehicles for the longer or heavier runs that they are suited for. No way do farms only have one vehicle for the entire family including wife and active kids. In our area most 500 mile parts runs are shipped as that is more affordable and not taking up valuable time running for them personally. It doesn't pay for an EV or an ICE to do those jobs.
