east central ND | I have quite a bit of light sandy ground, and a really nice side dress anhydrous knive bar for my 30” rows. Putting a couple new knives on it this morning I got to thinking what would speed up this process? Half the time it seems I should be spraying and side dressing the corn at the same time.
Half the neighbors that used to side-dress AA now spread urea with a high wheel spreader. Some fields are getting really dry on top and we have had lots of 90 deg days. It seems that it’s a choice of opening up the ground with a knife, drying the ground out more, or waiting for a rain to soak urea in.
Hhhmmmm.
It would be faster, and safer to spread urea, but????
A few guys in the area use liquid, some coulter it in, some drop it on top of the ground. I suppose I could switch to that, but would need tanks to store it, as the best price is taking delivery in winter.
What’s the better choice? I’ve seen those anhydrous high speed disc opener rigs like a deer, but the price is unreal….
