| Good ideas, but as far as I know all counties at least plug in to the OBD port and check the monitors,downstate is worse with tail pipe sniff test as far as I know. No buying used converters from yards allowed by NYS, eBay might be an option. As Indy says pulling the bulb will get you no where,state computer reads the codes/monitors complete. I think the waiver is 1000$ and you need receipts. They do stop testing 25 year old vehicles.Also NYS requires new converters to meet California specs,so they are a lot more. $$$, but some websites will sell to NYS residents without any questions. | |
