Current weather allowed you to do it like that. Crazy what hot dry and no humidity arid like conditions will do. I have neighbors who wet bale and wrap everything, they are the ones crying this year.
Report back next week or month when it goes to raining and humidity is way up. You'll have 30-40% alfalfa mix in squares the next afternoon after cut, doesn't matter how much tedding you do.
