Wisconsin | Sunny and dry makes most fruit sweeter, why not hay? The daily cycle of peak rising sugar during the day and lowest sugar at dawn is getting "adjusted" by the inability of the plant to turn all that sugar into structural carbohydrates (cellulose etc.) I don't know if it's N or water or other nutrients that it needs to make that change, or maybe it's just the shorter nights and longer days that doesn't allow it to catch up? | |
