Cookin' with Dr Pepper - the soft drink that is, not a real MD. My copy of the Dr Pepper cookbook has printed in 1965. Barbecued Spareribs - Serves 6 to 8 4-5 pounds spareribs 1 cup of catsup 2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon balck pepper 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 cups Dr Pepper 1/4 cup vinegar 2 teaspoons paprika 2 teaspoons chili powder 1 cup onion, finely chopped Cut ribs into serving pieces. place in shallow pan, meaty side up. Roast at 450 deg. F., 30 minutes. Drain, discard fat. Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients; simmer 15-20 minutes. Spoon sauce over ribs. Reduce oven to 350 deg F. Roast ribs, basting frequently, until tender. Note: The ribs may also be cooked over charcoal, as pictured. Sorry folks, I can not show you the picture, but it was a sure fine color picture, with a whole chicken and the spare ribs being cooked with three bean salad on the picnic table located in a back yard somewhere, along with plenty of Dr Pepper bottles on the table and in the Dr Pepper labeled in the background.
