Boyd, WI | To the other grain farmers like myself- Did you know that pit traders at CBOT beat the general public (me,you, joe farmer) on 93% of all futures transactions? Do you realize that farmers, year in and year out, sell their grains on average in the bottom 1/3 of all the prices they're offered in a marketing year? Pit traders know that, and when enough crop is sold, don't be suprised to see prices soar again. I'm not a gambling man, and don't offer anything more than hopefully some interesting discussion. All I know is what others have already said, markets will go up, down, or sideways. Food for thought- When wheat first hit $5 recently, how many farmers sold '07 crop, then '08, maybe some of '09? I'm betting quite a few. See how wheat has run up so high since then? Just some interesting points I picked up among many others from a gentleman who's traded for 30 years in the pits. Comments appreciated, ideas welcomed, constructive criticism taken, fights being picked-forget it. | |
