EC IL | Illinois has 102 counties, and to my knowledge, all counties are divided into townships. In my county, there are 15 townships. Each township has an elected government, supervisor, clerk, road commissioner, and four or more trustees. All elected to their office, and get paid for their service to the township throughout the year. This is all in addition to the elected and hired positions at the county level. There are also multi-township elected offices and multi-county elected offices. Did I mention village and town offices elected next tuesday? How about the school elections the same day?
Now my real question - Who believes we can justify all these public servants? And how in the world can we afford to pay them? | |
