Eastern Iowa | Came out 20 years ago this week. The Lansing and Ameskamp farms have never been the same since. I live about 20 miles away from the movie site, and went to high school in Dyersville, IA, around the time of the movie's fiming, so the fascination with the movie and the way it persists is very interesting to me. I totally understand it, actually. A couple of local columnists did their best to put it into words. There's just something about farming and baseball and fathers and sons that seems to go hand in hand. I don't know what it is, but it works.
"People will come, Ray."
The regional newspaper had something of a retrospective on the Field of Dreams in this Sunday's paper. Any AgTalkers ever visit this small town baseball shrine? Dyersville also has the distinction of being "Farm toy capital of the world" as the home of Ertl Toys and Scale Models. Nice toy museum there!
