SCMN | With that wet and warm weather we've been having this fall things are turning green all over again. I pulled a couple ears of corn last night and the bottom kernels are sprouting. I'm talking about the ears that are still on the stalk that we were in the process of picking. Some kernels were just rotten and some had sprouts growing toward the open end of the husk. I found one kernel with a 3 inch long sprout on it. I hadn't noticed any of them while dumping loads into the hopper at home. I assume the sprouts are getting ripped off in the combine. The corn is pretty dry and we are still running it through the dryer to take off about one point. Is this going to be a problem to store over the winter and into the summer? We will get some cold air on it as soon as the weather cools off. Anyone else have this? I'm sure I'm not the only one, especially in my area, SCMN. Is anyone else sick of mud yet? | |
