Pittsburg, Kansas | So we were eating supper a few days ago at the Black Durgon Inn. A couple from Copenhagen we have known for years ask if they could join us at our table. Sure.
They had their usual fish and we were having pork ribs. We finished and had a few left over so ask if they wanted one. They did and could tell they enjoyed them.
The lady ask Carolynn if she could have the recipe and the deal ended up with they both would fix ribs together so she could learn the preparation method. We would have dinner together tonight. All is well.
In the mean time another lady joined our table and had a rib. So only seemed appropriate to invite her also.
The other couple invites another couple. As did my wife. Better get more ribs.
Long story short, the two couples dinner plans ended up with 17 invited and wife wondering if she had enough ribs. Ok, our good neighbors had a couple slabs of St Louis style.
Ended up 16 attendees, plenty of ribs (5 slabs total ribs cooked). People brought dishes. Was a good time.
Cooking facilities are not extensive. No pellet grill or smoker here. Wife did the 5 slabs in gas oven (open air communal kitchen) rubbed with mustard, smoked salt, paprika, black pepper and garlic powder.
They were delicious.
What started out as two couples having dinner together turned into 16 people.
