Subject: To Round or Square? That is the question.

Kansas
I have a question and any and all answers are welcome. Now onto the question, is it better to round the corners or leave them square when cutting wheat? Oddly enough it was our JD salesman that got me onto squaring corners after he brought out a combine to demo and rode around with me.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both ways? What type of trade-offs are there?

Onto the advantages and disadvantages that I see feel free to add whatever.

Adv. of square corners
1. No layed over grain when turning.
2. 1 and done no need to travel around to the four corners to clean up what is left.

Disadv. of square corners
1. Combine not staying busy/wasting fuel
2. Kinda of eludes to #1 in that the time it takes to turn around without any wheat coming into the machine

Adv. of round corners.
1. Combine stays busy
2. Always cutting something

Disadv. of round corners
1. Wheat gets layed over when turning
2. Have to go around to every corner and clean them up.
