Glasgow, Ky
Question. How many grain farmers couldn't operate nearly as efficient with say 2/3 the investment they have in machinery? $7 corn and $4 corn change the playing field on justifying expenditures on equipment. High prices can lead to expenditures that are regretted when prices fall significantly.
Playing the year end spending game on equipment and doing a 179 looks good at the time. If is not paid for at the time and is financed those payments can be problematic when prices fall. Been there, done that but those who have endured that in past downturns learned from it. Those enduring it now will do the same.
