I think there are good unions and bad ones.

To me, if you can buy something made in the USA with a good balance of quality and price, I don't care if it was Union or not. If the Union is a good one, you will get a decent quality boot at a fair price. If the union isn't, they will be overpriced for what you get, and if that happens long enough, they quit making them, or production gets shipped elsewhere.
IMO, it seems worse where unions are mandatory. When there is a law requiring every worker to be Union before they can work there, the Unions have too much power. If they unionize voluntarily, and non-union workers can work in the same shop, those places seem much better run.
