I live 20 minutes to the NW of Joplin.

I don't think anything special about it other than big. I remember flying over the city a year or two later and could easily see the path. No green trees left in that portion of town.

Looked like it took out about a third of the town on the southern side.

I let the guys that worked for me go help with the recovery. The emergency people would not let them in or help the first day after but the second day they did so they helped getting some streets open and such.
