That might seem like the logical way of thinking but with state law and cattle it is not. In nebraska, part of owning land is cost of fence and upkeep of that fence. Even if you dont have cattle, if you do not want the neighbors cattle on your land then you must fence it out. "Fence out" laws. If you do not like the law, change it, live with it, or don't buy land.
