Subject: RE: Chainsaw sharpener questions

White Stone, Virginia
Get the Stihl guided file sharpener with the orange ends! It has a second file in it that lowers the raker as it sharpens. fast and accurate. I can make a chain as sharp or sharper than a factory one. I have tried lots of electric ones, but I like this best. You can completely sharpen and tune up a chain in a couple of minutes. it has the sharpening angle built into the sharpener handle. With a bar vise that spikes into a stump you can quickly sharpen a chain right in the woods. and it fits in your back pocket. Pferd makes the same thing, only with blue instead of orange. The files are all easily replaceable, so after the initial expense they are cheap. I have three: one for each chain size I have. You don't have to carry a bunch of extra chains, you don't have to remove the chain and it uses no power. Usually five swipes per tooth takes care of it. You can feel the file smooth out as the tooth sharpens.
