Crushed limestone rock, golf ball to baseball size. Its soft and packs in really nice. It doesn't do damage to equipment because its soft. I get it by the semi load and dump in the corner of problem fields. Lava rock is a waste of time, just turns to dust. I do use concrete blocks in really deep places that a knife or shank will never go or reach.

On the worst ones we had we used lime. Fill them in best as we could then spread lime in the tracks. It worked. We tried lava rock and bricks and r/r ties. Pivots just smash them deeper in the ground and still gets stuck. As simple as it sounds lime worked.

We had 11 pivots and the shortest was 9 tower and the 2 longest was 16 and 17 tower. It would take truckloads of lava rocks for them.

The best thing is drainage. Get the field drained as best you can whether it’s tile or water furrows or cleaning ditches. Boom back nozzles would work but that’s a “one way only” fix.
