Near-north Ontario, French River
Realistically speaking, how many farmers would switch back to a conventional herbicide program ( vs RR) even if RR chem costs were $10/acre MORE then a conventional program. A RR program is TOO easy compared to conventional program, so much so that many growers have forgotten most of what they have known about conventionals, to the point that they will stick with RR because of the simplicity of the program, and ability to safely spray post emerge and be be guaranteed a clean field. RR lets growers cover larger acres, faster ( lowest water volumes out there)and with the biggest spray window , so unless there is a significant difference in cost/acre ( read $15-20/ac) I dont see many growers switching back, regardless of what monsanto does.
