Use to have a 2pt and 3pt, and different hydraulic couplers. Took them over 30 years to figure out that it was in every bodies best interest to have a standard.
As to electronic equipment getting destroyed it is usually when one manufactures decides not to use the standard for that connection. Trimble could have used a standard serial cable but chose to change it to try and force people to use their receivers. This may have worked good when things started out but as more chooses became available they will either have to became price competitive on there receivers or lose sales of an entire system or use a standard and sell the parts that they can do make the best. | |
