Neat. Looks like it must be fairly sandy for them to dig as clean as they are. Looks like you use a flapper to push onto the primary chain, is there a blade or do you use the rod weeder type bar to dig them? That is a nice looking bulker (loader).

I have always been amazed at the amount of row irrigation done over there. I'm sure it is because it works well there, but why no sprinklers? Looks like a very nice crop, lot of onions there. Biggest problem with onions here is white rot, keep having to move to clean fields-of which there is a limited supply, is there any problems with that in your area?

All the onion grown here are dehydrating (processing) onions. They are first topped using flail choppers, then usually windrowed and laid on top of the ground. Then picked up and loaded into trailers which are picked up and pulled straight to southern CA for processing. We leased some ground to a friend of mine who grow onions here, and I have one picture of them digging, will post more later.
