Southwest Missouri | The long pto shaft going to the actual mower conditioner runs at 1000 rpm. Depending on how handy you are with lathe, bearings and shafts, you could do it all yourself. You could also buy the parts from New Holland. That would cost a little more, but it should be a bolt on type of operation.
I did things a bit more involved and made my own two point swivel hitch. It took time in the shop and some design work, but I am very happy. I can turn as sharp as I want for as long as I want, and no rattle. Unless you need a project for the winter, I think a straight 1000 rpm shaft would be fine. You definitely do not turn the gear box around or you will be going way too fast. You just need bearings and a shaft to support the slip clutch and connect it to the telescoping shaft that hooks on to the tractor.
