Subject: Re: Ethanol E10 vs E???

Saranac, Michigan
I just returned from a trip through ND,SD,Ia. We filled up in Soiux City and the milage actually went up. I was telling the guy that went with me that our milage always seems to go up on the return trip to Mi. He said I was crazy. We averaged 15.2 on the way out and 15.8 on the way back. Part of the way we had a headwind and the rest of the time it was negligable.
We travel to Iowa a lot by a differnet routes and it always seems to happen the same way. Maybe it's downhill more than I think. Could it be that the octane is higher and there is less detonation?
