Question about marker lights on top of truck cabs

Chebanse, IL.....

Don't understand the need for maker lights on top of the cab of trucks. Not arguing w/you-just arguing w/the premise. So-from the FRONT we can now see it's a truck. That means if I'm an oncoming motorist & see those lights I'll do.......what......differently? From the rear-you can't see them due to whatever the truck's got fastened on it. That is, unless it's a 1T version of a pickup, that also has those lights.

We had one burned out on semi once & it wouldn't pass semi-annual safety test 'til it was fixed. I'm still just trying to figure out the safety aspect of those cab lights.

OK-go ahead & try.
