Subject: Track widths.

Haven't looked at the newer Cats. But the older ones used the same undercarriage no matter what the track width. The blocks were offset to the inside so that each increase in width made more track stick out the side of the undercarriage. The tracks would "cup" and any dirt or mud that entered the track could not roll back out. The only way to get rid of it was to grind it up. At least that is the way it was for a long time. Maybe the newer units have the track blocks centered.

Lots of damage to the undercarriage on the wider tracks because anything, be it dirt, stick or rock could not get out easily.
