Subject: RE: track tractors in greasy conditions

Hillsboro, AL

I only have 18" tracks, but I have never had the drivers to slip on my MT765 and it has been stuck to the point of being pulled out.  It is usually what you are pulling that hangs you up.  I got a John Deere 1890CCS stuck.  I unhooked the Cat and drove it out.  Got a long cable and pulled the drill out.  The drivers might slip on wider belts, but I don't think I can make them slip on mine.

Tracks will get you a lot closer to the wet place, but when they break loose they are just about worthless at that point.  If you are in mud and trying to pull a big load (grain cart in mud for example) wheels will do better.  For working ground, tracks will go farther than wheels and probably farther than you should be going.
