They were not. Updates bugger them up. Updates are kinda like a patch on a patch. Computer runs through the original programming code, THEN, sees the patch, runs through that, then sees the next patch, runs through that etc etc. I know of a Dell desktop computer that was never connected to the internet, worked as it was designed running Windows 3.0 until a power surge brought it to a tragic end in 2018.
