Long ago was watching a cooking program and the chef mentioned that anchovies were good for the base of a sauce. It has been so long that I don’t know what type food the chef was preparing or discussing.
I’ve never tried anchovies on pizza. Bought some cans a few years back but the extreme saltiness is hard to get past. Love smoked herring though.
