Just like different wheat varieties works for different flour uses (bread, pastries. pasta. etc), I would imagine different varieties of corn could be used for different end uses. I suspect companies canning corn or making corn meal don't just grab a car load of #2 yellow corn of any variety. GMO or non GMO. Pigs..............probably not as picky eaters.
