I myself thought the Key denim shirts were a little bit on the heavy side. I have several but don't wear them much. Are you sure your not thinking of the light Chambray shirts?
I used to wear a bunch of Riggs and Wrangler denim shirts in my younger days until I couldn't fit well into a 2XL tall anymore. I'd say they are medium thickness.
