Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251 | When my boys were young, we did a lot of activities with other dads and their sons. We called it the Father-Son club.
We would do an activity, then one of the dads would give a short talk on a particular virtue to everyone. Time well spent for both the giver and the hearers!
Model rockets was very popular. Visits to a livestock farm was fun for city kids. Once a year we did Christmas caroling at local nursing homes and that was incredibly meaningful.
Campouts were great, capture the flag, etc, etc. We would every so often meet at a farm and have what we called a "shoot 'em up". We would set up a little firing range and have six or eight .22 rifles for everyone to take turns with. Very good opportunity to teach range safety, gun maintenance, and have a bonfire afterwards. We bought a electric skeet thrower and the dads and older boys would all get a chance at that. Great memories! |
