'Here' more land equals more work.
If you get grass, you have more fences to fix, more cattle to tend, etc, etc.
If you get more crop land, you have another irrigation system to keep up, and the vast majority of land for sale has old outdated irrigation equipment, so you either fix or replace. An extra 80 of irrigated land here can require the better part of an hour every morning and evening during irrigation season (can be as little as 15 min a day or as much as an hour 2X a day depending on the setup).
This year, after the worst irrigation season I can remember (although 2012 was dang close), I can't see anyone wanting to give themselves more of that work at 60+, but then I realize there are plenty of places where that isn't an issue. | |
