Milford, IL | I agree, and Im often scolded for missing out on important 'security' updates.
Personal anecdote. Have a cell phone I liked, Galaxy S9, turned auto-updates off day 1. Never updated. I ran the phone over with a K5 Blazer and the screen is damaged, dang. Bought a new Galaxy S10 phone with current Samsung software will not receive service indoors at all. Outdoors with clear line of sight to the Verizon tower service is spotty. Crap, maybe bad phone hardware, send it back, buy a new S9+ from another dealer. Same problem. Maybe its the SIM card, run to VZ store for a new SIM card, still same problem. Both phones on my person, can stick the SIM in the never updated S9 with broken screen, perfect cell service. Pull SIM, stick it in new S9+ w/ current software, poor or no service. I can see the tower.
And dont get me going on Windows. MS one drive, MS teams, MS Edge, like a trio of crazy exs who wont leave you alone. Every OS after W7 offers no improvements for the user.
