SW Ontario | I've had a 1/2 mile wireless bridge (farm to farm) set up for over 10 years using Engenius access points similar to these:

The ones that I have are 2.4 GHz, probably not made any more. They have worked flawlessly.
I have found that if I am running long runs of cat5, say more than 200', I need to have a good switch on each end for it to work well. That's using good direct burial cat5. | |
