NC Kansas | when it comes to pellet smokers they are all similar in function and end results. Maybe you get what you pay for in longevity, I don't know. I had a green mountain I adopted and put some TLC into and it lasted me 5-7 more years but not sure how old it really was. I REALLY dislike taking out the grates and heat deflectors/grease catcher to then have to vacuum out ashes from the little fire box and belly of the grill. So I wouldn't do it regularly and it would end up blowing ash around and contaminating food. I think MOST pellet smokers are built this way. However, Camp Chef makes one that allows you to dump the ashes out the bottom into a little trap after every cook, massively improving the cleaning interval and experience in my opinion. That was why I went with camp chef over every other reputable brand at the time.
Also think about what ash does to a little shop vac filter... they don't last long when vacuuming fine ashes, so that part really annoyed me too.
