To those who have made syrup for a while, will the sap start to run this early or do the trees need more hours of sunlight?
The temperatures will be warm enough.

The sap in the sapwood of the tree that contains sugar that was manufactured mostly last year.

Most trees have sap containing up to 2 percent sugar. Sugar maple has the highest.
My maples have about 1% sugar. It takes more boiling, but it tastes great.
