Subject: RE: Hammer Mill i like

western iowa,by Denison
my processing scores point to hammer mill time after time-we switched to hammer mills for the finer grind, I only do about 100,000 bushel a year -I'm sure there is other results out there-we pick up a little on yield on the fats and seems to work touch better, we feed twice a day, seems like you have to be on top of your game over roller mill on the cattle call at the bunks every day. I just did a bunk check,11pm but normally I read the bunk 4 times a day and feed twice, probaly check bunks at 4 am then make coffee.
The roller mill is not as critical, and whole shell corn is more so easier then the roller mill
probaly only 1% difference in hammer mill to roller mill to whole shell corn another 1%
maybe a $5000 difference to hammer mill and another 1% to whole shell corn($5000) so in the end I might be $10,000 better over whole shell corn, with beer costing about a dollar per I might be better off to just feed whole corn!
we run a 1/2 inch and 3/4 screen in the haybuster
